First Block Party

A few of the kids with their watermelon-stained faces
This summer in our neighborhood has been like no other.  The kids are a little older now, so they've been playing outside independently.  That's not to say we parents never go outside, and because of the kids, we've become much more acquainted with each other.  So we had our first block party Saturday night.

Brooke made a new friend, Taylor.
Cory grilled some chicken and we all shared each others' offerings.  A friend at church walked his dog down a neighboring street and said all we were missing were the fireworks.
Ayden lives next door and these two are good buddies.
Another little friend, Liam.  He's 3 now, but since before he was 2 Brady has been entertaining him at the playground.
This Barbie Jeep is always a hit with the kids.  It belongs to none of these kids pictured, but the owners are always so sweet to share.
It was a great night with the Spruce Street Peeps.  We went in at 8:30 to watch the BYU game, but many of the adults put their kids to bed and went back out, circling a portable propane-powered fire.
We feel so blessed to live in a neighborhood with so many friendly people.  We have some great friends here.  We are thankful our kids have so many playmates, and we're sure they will have some fond memories of these summer days on Spruce Street.
