Since Cory had Monday off for Civil Rights Day, we went to see his sister's family, the Cosentinos. They live in a small farming town called Santa Paula, which is about an hour northwest of Pasadena. We went to the beach and walked down Main Street in Ventura, which is only 10 miles away from Santa Paula. There was no Starbucks on the corner, just a lot of antique shops, thrift stores and boutiques. I had never heard of any of the restaurants or cafes we saw. Ventura has earned a stamp of approval from me.
